My arm felt like it was rotting, the veins pulsing with fire. She tried to hold me up, her small hands pushing against my chest, but I shook her off. “Run.” “No….” “Run, Audrey.” I shoved her back toward them, Caleb and Adrian both catching her at the same time. She looked between us, torn apart, but before she could argue, the first arrow shattered through the broken window. It buried itself in the gym floor, green smoke hissing up from the tip. It was a Wolfsbane. “Down!” Caleb barked, dragging Audrey against him as more arrows whistled through the air.

The one who had been targeted made a sharp turn that deflected the arrow away from him, gritting his teeth as his eyes grinned with malicious intent towards the area the arrow had come from. “Fucking bastard.” Brody hissed. The arrow would have pierced him if he had turned a second later. “Come out you Bloody bastards.” Brody shouted, his yell disturbing the fragile silence and it gradually cracked from there hence. It was a shower of arrows that answered Brody’s invitation. “Take cover.” Someone yelled. The men ran for the trucks, while some of them took their chances against the onslaught, finding the arrows more of a nuisance rather than a good challenge.

The sound was sickening, a wet thud that made my stomach drop. "No!" I screamed, catching him as he stumbled. The arrow protruded from his shoulder, and where it had pierced him, silver liquid began to seep through his shirt. Not red. Silver. He fell to his knees, and I went down with him, my hands desperately trying to stop the bleeding. His golden eyes met mine, wide with shock and pain. "Damon…" I sobbed, my voice breaking. "Damon, no, please…" His hand reached up, trembling, touching my face. "Aria..."

Side by side, the arrows lay. The carvings matched. An "R" shape, symbolizing Redwood Pack.

Declan grabbed my arm. "Noble. Stupid, but noble." Marcus aimed at my chest. "Step aside or I shoot through you to get to him." "Then shoot through me." For a moment, I thought he would.
