The air froze instantly. The smile on Cole’s lips stiffened as he stared at me in disbelief. “W-What?” I didn’t repeat myself. I simply closed my eyes. As if he couldn’t accept what he’d just heard, Cole stepped forward and roughly grabbed my wrist. My sleeve was pulled back, revealing the large patches of shocking purple bruises beneath—dark against my pale skin. They were marks left behind by needles repeatedly piercing my veins during blood draws. Cole’s fingers began to tremble. He stared at the bruises, his voice breaking as he demanded, “Why? Sadie! Why would you do something like that? Are you crazy? Why?”

I felt my cheeks heat, “I mean… I already messed up by spilling something on his suit.” “Ah, I see.” A warm smile spread across her face, “I don’t think you need to worry about that. He’s usually pretty chill about those kinds of things. Besides, from what I heard this morning, you are his…uh…blood vessel. Your job requirement isn't much for real. Just make sure you eat enough fruit so you won’t get anemic when you start serving him your blood.” My cheeks were crimson as I listened to her speak, “Oh… thank you, I guess.”

A white wolf locked eyes on him, grabbed the jar in its jaws, and respectfully placed it in my hand. Another wolf bared its teeth and sank them into Noah's neck. It tossed him into the air and slammed him to the ground. Just as they opened their jaws to finish him off, I raised a hand. They stopped at once, crouched by my side with their heads lowered. Noah's eyes lit up. "May, I'll… be happy to die here. But you stopped them… Does this mean—" I yawned, then continued, "You're reading too much into it. I just didn't want them tainted by your filthy blood."

Fuyu growled at him, anger and frustration seeping from his voice. “You should get to them, Alpha; they need you too.” She smiled creepily at us before lowering her hands to gently pull up her gown and smudge her index finger with blood. Then, with her eyes still stuck on Fuyu and a grin on her face, she licked her bloodstained finger, the black veins on her skin pulsating even more. “They don't have much time either.”

“Take this.” Without any hesitation, Tyr pulled out the sanguine fruit and gave it to the man in white. “What’s this?” Immediately, Blade Hero’s tomb was filled with a very refreshing scent. Especially prominent in a closed space like the tomb’s interior, it made for an extremely invigorating fragrance. “It’s the sanguine fruit. Apparently, it’ll recover one’s energy immediately upon consumption. Try it.” The man was shocked. “This is too precious. I can’t have it.”
