However, instead of feeling better, I feel much worse. When I look down, I see that I’ve throw up blood. Tainted blood. I go still for a second, for creeping up on me. What is this? I look towards where Kayla is waiting for me, her wolf puppy playing by her feet. My breathing is uneven and I force myself to stand up. I’ve never thrown up blood before, especially when it looks like this. Taking a deep breath, I rinse my mouth with some water before going back. However, with each step, I can feel my strength draining.

The only thing left was the dinner menu, but the vile taste lingering in my mouth made eating unthinkable. I excused myself and hurried to the bathroom. Once inside, I bent over the sink and desperately tried to force the blood back up, jamming my fingers into my throat. Nothing. All that came out was thick, bitter-tasting saliva, streaked faintly with red. My stomach twisted in frustration and disgust as I leaned against the sink, breathing heavily. As I rinsed my hands under the cold water, something in the mirror caught my eye, a shadow, a reflection that made my blood run cold.
