Aurora’s P.O.V Lucas's voice rose in a low, guttural chant, each word curling in the air like tendrils of dark energy, wrapping themselves around the room. Then Harmona joined him, her voice softer but no less potent. She lifted the colander high, and the thick crimson liquid sloshed within it, reflecting the dim light with an ominous sheen. The sight of my own blood swirling in that vessel sent a fresh wave of dread rolling through me, but the real horror was the sun—partially eclipsed, casting long, eerie shadows that flickered along the walls like ghosts waiting to pounce.

I didn't bother responding and turned around. But before I could take a step, Garrett's smirk faltered, and his body suddenly swayed. A second later, he coughed up a mouthful of black blood and collapsed to the floor. Loretta's face went pale, her voice rising into a sharp panic. "Garrett? What's wrong?! Somebody call a doctor! Does anyone know first aid? Please, help him!"

She tilted her chin toward the hallway and said, “See the door with the blue light over there? That’s a licensed blood donation center. It’s open twenty-four hours. Ma’am, you can sell your blood for some money.” She paused, her gaze settling back on my face, as if measuring my reaction. “Not only will it be enough to buy that box of medicine, but it might even help you chip away at whatever debt you’ve got on your credit card.” I didn’t want to sell my blood, but I wanted to survive. So, I had no choice. The needle pierced my skin, and I watched as my blood rushed through the clear plastic tube into the collection bag. The first bag filled quickly, and the machine let out a soft beep.

So I laid down and went back to sleep, letting myself drift off to sleep again. ***** When I woke up, Marcello was still around. Him and Veronica were so engaged in whatever they were laughing about that they did not notice me walk out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. They must have done some more cleaning while I was asleep because everywhere was tidy now. And the books? They were still right where they were. I was hungry. I needed to feed... with blood. This was the part of my nature that I hated and constantly tried to avoid every day. But roasted meat could only get me so far.

The book is HOT, and Theo’s voice… yeah, it makes for an enjoyable two-and-a-half-hour flight. I love how he changes his voice when speaking for each Alpha. Hana told me they’ve done the narration for the rest of the series, and I can’t wait to listen.

We all felt the loss. “Fucking Onyx was crazy out there. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m glad she was on our side,” He chuckled, and a smile tugged at my lips. Yeah, she was. My kind of crazy. “Yeah. Both of you. You two looked like king and queen warriors out there. It was something,” Manix chimed in. Somehow despite what had happened, she seemed to be winning them over too. If only… “I still can’t believe she donated her blood. Vampires always think they’re better than us and that’s like taboo for them or something and she was no exception. But from what I heard; it helped a lot of our people.”
