Chapter 34 The Edge of Control Quinton’s POV The sight of Fiona crumpling to the ground beneath that beast haunted my every step. Blood trickled from her shoulder, soaking the earth as I ran toward her. Time seemed to stretch, but I reached her in a heartbeat. My wolf growled and howled within me, urging me to destroy the creature that had dared harm her.

Her eyes did a clean sweep of the market grounds but everywhere was busy, giving so much opportunity for hiding. She’d learned everything she wanted to learn anyways. She threw her hood over her head and left, melting back into the crowd of people. Her muscles were still locked and she scanned the throngs of people repeatedly for the reason her muscles remained locked up and her hair still stood on end. She took a sudden turn, doubling her pace and disappearing down the bend. After she took the second turn she melted back into the shadows and waited. There, movement at the periphery of her vision. She discovered the person that dared to hunt her, a fucking Council dog.

I cast another spell, this time summoning an army of fierce spirits to fight alongside me. The spirits materialize, their eyes glowing with a fierce intensity. With a wave of my hand, they charge towards the Silver Hunters, their ghostly claws tearing through the air. The Hunters are taken aback, but they're also prepared. They've been practicing their magic, and one of them casts a spell that sweeps through my spirits, decimating them. My heart sinks. This will be even harder than I thought. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Heather running away. She's made it to safety.
