As Caitlin flew over the Bronx, she was horrified to see the extent of the devastation occurring on the streets beneath her. On block after block, there was bloodshed, vampires gorging on humans, openly in the night. There were also humans attacking humans, trying to flee in the chaos. It was anarchy. And she couldn’t help but feel responsible. If she’d had just held onto the Sword, if she hadn’t let it slip away, perhaps none of this would’ve happened.

Raised hackles and anger written all over his body. When the grey wolf didn't back down, Bellamy snapped at him. This led to the wolf bowing his head. Deep and low. The rest of them marched off, followed shortly after by their ring leader. I watched in astonishment as they joined the rest of the pack again. As if nothing happened. As if they hadn't just harassed me. It was enough to sour my mood completely. Brushing off Bellamy, I turned toward the route back to the cars. Back to the privacy tents and my bag of clothes.

From a high distance, I stared down as the hounds fell on one another, now creating a heap of dogs in the very place I stood making me gulp, The wind blew, making me release a shrill cry as my right leg burnt violently. Staring down, I noticed it. A huge gash that ran from my ankles to my knees, tearing both my boots and skinny jeans in the process. I tried holding it still but the droplets of blood fell, slowly but surely, on top of the highest hound, alerting it. Its head snapped up and my eyes locked with its pitch black ones. They were horrifying. Growling, it alerted the rest of the pack, each one of them replying with a savage growl.

The words erupted from my chest in an intense, predatory roar. But her scent had vanished. Rain began to pour, interfering with any chance of tracking her trail. When I caught the smell of danger nearby, my fur bristled. I closed my eyes and heightened my Lupine instincts. There were rogue wolves lurking within the forest. More than that—there was a dangerous creature, one of Nocturnus’s lackeys, his guardian who hunted whenever his master unleashed him: a three-headed Cerberus, better known among humans as a hellhound.

"Come with me," She hesitated as she stared at the intimidating creature before her, letting out another frightened scream as the lights suddenly turned red, a loud alarm blaring through the building. Knowing what that meant, the BloodHound immediately let go of the gentle and calm pleading and shot forward to just grab her instead, earning himself another scream as he threw her over his shoulder and started moving as fast as he could. There was such little time. The frail little human being kept struggling and crying over his back as he shattered a glass door with just a strong kick, his gloved hand hovering above the gun strapped to his thigh as his eyes quickly scanned the area for any th

he said flipping the top of the box off completely. Three balls of fur jumped out and rushed to us. Kaden squealed instinctively and backed off, dragging me behind him. “Stop,” he ordered instinctively. The hounds stopped and sat at his feet, tails wagging and their red glowing eyes on him expectantly. “I know of this underworld god who has a three headed dog as a guardian, but those are pretty hard to come by, so I summoned you three hellhounds. You will find them incredibly loyal and protective.”

I was standing in the middle of the room, with warm tears streaming down my face, and it didn't matter how much I tried I couldn't stop them. I couldn't believe what had just happened. My mind started focusing on what I could feel and see, to check if it was really happening. The wood scent of the packhouse, the dim light, the white musky odor of my mate, the metallic taste in my mouth for biting my cheeks.

he said, shaking his head lightly. “Chase, what’s going on?” I asked, confusion rummaging in my brain. “Hellwood has come to save me” XXX When I leave my house all I see is black and white fur.
