He holds out his hand, grasping the other man’s in a friendly, peacekeeping shake that lasts less than a second. “Careful, buddy. Looks like you hurt yourself.” The man lifts his arm, puzzled to find thick red blood streaming down his pale flesh, past his wrists and into the sleeve of his suit. He seems to be unable to grasp what just happened, and I don’t blame him, because neither can I— at least, until I notice the two vertical cuts slicing his wrist. They are claw shaped. Deep. And they run parallel to the long vein in his inner arm. In fact, they barely missed it.

At first I didn’t understand what he was showing me, but then he brought his hand closer to me, and I saw it. Dark veins that ran from his wrist and went inward, forming a spider-web like structure. The colour was so faint that it was barely recognizable, but I think for a fraction of a second…I saw them get darker, bigger, before they almost disappeared from sight. “What was that?” I took his hand in mine, tracing the now blue-looking vein with my fingers, but nothing happened. It was simply gone. “I wish I could tell you.” He shook his head. “But I have no idea.”

Huh? Ravi stepped forward to get a closer look at Raymond's bloody hand. There was a long line of thick red blood oozing from Raymond's palm, and dark red stains surrounded the wound, indicating an old injury that had reopened. Ravi grabbed Raymond's wrist and then asked him, "What happened to your hand? I remember you've never been injured there before."

The moment I saw what happened to Blaze, I immediately ran to him. Blaze was kneeling on the ground with an immense pain. It could be clearly seen that both of his left and right hands had fractures on the radius and ulna. Blood was spilling from his skin. It was completely mangled. This idiot…! He attempted to pull that sword…! His bones weren’t strong enough to sustain the sudden weight by the gravity magic— that's why it snaps. I was worried.

My hand is hanging at an unnatural angle, the skin already starting to puff and turn a dark red. I brought this upon myself.

"You…" Sensing Liam's teasing tone, a flash of anger briefly crossed Agustine's face. But at that moment— A gentle breeze drifted in through the window, brushing over Agustine's hand. The poplar leaf covering his hand was softly blown to the ground. The white solid that had formed over his palm, previously firm, instantly disintegrated like fine sand, revealing the skin beneath. Just moments ago, his palm bore a bleeding wound. But now, it was smooth and unblemished!

More veins stretched downward beneath his collar. "What is that?" I asked, rushing toward him. But the veins were spreading from the source of the injury. At the back of his neck, deep claw marks had turned a dark purplish blue. I could not even begin to understand what I was looking at.

My breathing grows heavier as the images reappear. Aerin’s hands on her waist. His mouth near her ear. My vision flashes gold. A low growl tears from my throat before I can stop it. Then my back burns. “Ahh!” I staggered to my feet and ripped my shirt off turning to the large mirror. Black veins have spread from where the Hollowed Vale vine had pierced me when Elara was pulling me out. I touched it and it pulsed. The edges look darker and thicker now. “What is this?” I whispered as I looked at the thing beneath my skin pushing outward.

So why am I feeling so drained, and why does my arm throb? I pull up the soaked sleeve to inspect the area that is giving me issues and gasp out loud when I see not just a mass of dark bruising, but my veins are a deep hue of purple and angry looking. My throat goes dry when I see a small hole, no bigger than a needle, but bright red, sitting in the center of the bruising and discolored veins. What did they do to me? It’s the logical question, the only one that comes to mind. They, whoever it was that attacked me, must have caused this.

Plus, I was sure someone came into that empty room, maybe took me out of there, but I had no idea who did that and for what purpose. I pursed my chapped lips, and it made me realise my throat wasn't as dry as it was before. And when I tried to move, I felt a tug in my right hand. I slowly sent my left hand's fingers over there, and I felt like something plastic on my skin. When I pressed around, I felt a sting of pain go through the veins of my hand. Was it a canula?
