Caller: Unknown A text appeared on the screen: > “You were warned. Leave the past buried, Elara. Or it will bury you.” I started calling him back before the lights flickered and went out. The room transformed into darkness but a soft blue light started to swirl in the central area. A translucent form of Seraphine started to materialize before my eyes. A silver gaze watched with cruelty as her hair flowed like water behind her while she wore a sinister smile. “Curious little Luna,” she cooed. Her voice was low and ice cold. “Dig deeper, Elara. Dig deeper and you’ll find more than just old bones. You’ll find me.”

I take a sip of my champagne while looking out the window. Well, he’s not actually old. Maybe somewhere in his mid- to late thirties. Old compared to me, anyway. I’m twenty-five. But still. “I’m Bash,” he says, holding out his hand. Oh God. Now I have to be nice. I shake his hand. “Hi, Bash. I’m Seraphina.” His eyes sparkle with mischief. “Hello, Seraphina.” His eyes are large, bright blue, and almost dreamy. The kind of eyes a person could get lost in.

The souls of these people are pure, and their auras sparkle with silver. Most bearers of Selene's gift live in their mountaintop cities. This is possible thanks to their unique Power - when a seraphim is faced with a life-threatening situation, its energy can take on a physical form in the form of wings. Unlike our Power, which cannot be seen and is impermanent, the Seraphim's Power takes on a physical form and remains so forever. At the same time, their magical abilities decrease, so many seraphim own weapons, compensating for what they have lost.

The clearing glowed with the twinkling fairy lights that adorned every tree, and the torches that had been lit along the path to illuminate the participants' way.
