I watched his finger moving in circles on the surface of the polished metal table top. "I know, I'm not worthy, besides there have been many young bucks sniffing around intent on courting her. Even an angel came knocking at my door," he said with wide eyes as if still in shock about it. I grinned as Salgos told me about the angel that had taken an interest in Cyra. His name was Seraph and he's the son of Abaddon." I gasped softly and swallowed uncomfortably not realizing he had another son besides Ronin.

And a fourth, taller than the rest, his body cloaked in green-blue mist, water magic rolling off him in waves. They don’t speak, but they don’t need to. I understand right away that they’re Seraphira’s Four. They move through the chaos like gods, people seeming to part when they go by. Their bond crackles in the air. I can feel it, even from here. Each of them is connected to her and to each other, their connection unmistakable. They’re a unit. They don’t move as five individuals. They’re a force. Seraphira watches them with something like longing, or maybe memory. “You still think you aren’t enough,” she says softly. “Because you’ve only tasted your power. You haven’t claimed it yet.”

Kiyan’s shock was written on his face as he started searching his contacts for someone we could call to smuggle Valora out of my room before something crazier happens. In the blink of an eye, Seraphine was walking towards her. “Kiyan? What’s Sera doing?” Kiyan turned, and his face spelt horror. “Sera? What are you doing? Don't—” Before he could finish his sentence, Seraphine touched Valora, and she immediately started chanting the exact words Valora had been chanting for almost an hour. Kiyan and I looked at each other, and by the time we looked back, Seraphine was suspended mid-air, her eyes white as snow, her icy blue hair flowing just like Valora’s.

Diego couldn’t see her clearly because of the darkness, but she knew who that was. The Spirit was a female with powdered blue skin, long red hair and wore no clothes. Her naked body had stains of purple-black substances that covered her left leg, her right arm and her right eye which made her look even scarier. The Spirit was in shackles from its neck down to its ankles. “What thinking would you be busy with when your life is going to end in a couple of hours?” the Spirit laughed. She looked at Diego with her red eyes. Her black lips stretched into a smile. “Don’t tell me you’re thinking of escaping, child…”

~ Seraphina's POV I smashed the mirror with my bare hands. Blood dripped from my fingers, but I didn't care. The face looking back at me wasn't mine anymore. My eyes—once warm brown—now glowed with an eerie blue light. The secret I'd hidden for twenty years was breaking free. "Seraphina!" Charles pounded on our bedroom door. "What's happening? Let me in!" I backed away from the broken glass, holding the small vial that hung around my neck. Inside, a silvery-blue liquid swirled like live smoke. The last of its kind. The only thing that could save Amara—or destroy her totally.

As I got closer, I could see the others more clearly—council members I’d known my whole life, and strangers wearing the deep blue and silver that marked them as Frostfang. And there, standing beside the cold and feared Alpha of Frostfang, dressed in delicate white embroidery stood a tall and lean figure. Seraphina. She was beautiful—breathtakingly, undeniably beautiful. She had been born with fierce red hair, a rare trait that marked her as a strong warrior. Deep blue eyes and full lips that were enough to stir any man. But looking at her stirred nothing in me except a vague sense of dread.

Three massive figures stepped out. They were ten feet tall, clad in golden armor that shone like the sun. They wielded massive hammers and shields. They didn't look like monsters. They looked like angels. BOSS DETECTED: THE SERAPHIM. LEVEL: 99. TYPE: ANTI-VIRUS PROTOCOL. "They're hunting the glitches," Jax said, gripping his data-sword. "They delete anything that doesn't follow the script. They've already deleted the Merchant's Guild."

But Silas— Silas looked at me like I was the most dangerous thing in the world. And somehow still the only thing he wanted. Seraphine stepped forward slowly. “What color?” I blinked. “What?” “When your eyes change,” she said sharply. “What color are they?” I swallowed hard. “Gold.” Silence. Then Darius muttered one cursed sentence. “No wonder.” Silas’s body tensed beside me instantly. “No wonder what?” Seraphine ignored him completely. Instead, she looked directly at me. “Shift.” I stared at her. “I can’t.”
