Lost Alpha: Switched At Birth
I stumbled over twisted tree roots, barely catching myself as I crashed into the trunk of an old oak.
"Oof!" I grunted, wincing at the impact.
My eyes clamped shut as a fresh wave of pain radiated through my shoulder. When they opened, I saw a cluster of dark berries growing from a bush at the base of the tree. Had fortune favored me?
Kneeling, I examined the leaves, the stems, the scent, the color of the berries when mashed, everything I could think of to identify whether it was poisonous or not. From every angle, through every test, I couldn't tell.
