"The engagement is officially off." "No!" Zayden lunged for the bin, attempting to take back the ring. However, the bin was full of blood-stained bandages and used needles. As soon as he reached into the bin with his bare hand, the needles pricked him bloody. "You can't do this, Noelle!" The diamond ring was nestled in his palm. Tears and snot ran down his face. "We grew up together! You can't abandon me because of an outsider!" "An outsider?" A derisive chuckle escaped me. "Zayden, Erica's an outsider, and so am I. Also, you abandoned me first."

Geralda looked at me intensely. I nodded, according to what I had seen during my journey to the past dimension, my biological mother and father had intended to swap me with Alpha Felix and Luna Yelena's real daughter. "The baby swap has happened," Nicholas murmured, and I could hear him. "Rachel is being looked after by my birth mom and dad?" Geralda nodded. She snapped her fingers when my answer was correct. I joined him a few moments later and slept all through the night until this dream woke me up. I went to the cabinet attached to the table and pulled out the book we obtained from the library. Apart from the pages I had fiddled on the day we got the book, I barely went through the material. The storm hit off and left me completely distracted. I went through the table of contents. Body Swap! There was a chapter dedicated to Body swaps in Chicago. I quickly got to the page and began to read through it. When I got to a particular point, my hands began to tremble.

Once I get reborn, the first thing I will do is swap mates with my cousin, Clara Evonfall. In my previous life, Clara and I had held our mate-bonding ceremonies on the same day. Clara, a docile and gentle she-wolf, was forced to become the mate of Gilbert Vargas, the cold and aloof Alpha of the Bloodthorn pack. She broke off from the throng. Then, there were stories about her circulating in the village. A mad mother chasing down a thug with nothing but a knife. The thug eventually fell further and became a beggar. The mad mother became the mad hag. Zacharias and I were on the train to the capital. Where the sun shone, there would be our future also.

That was because I knew she wasn't truly seeking forgiveness. She had made another deal with the system. All she needed was for me to say I didn't blame her or that I wasn't angry anymore, and she'd be able to swap our weights again in an instant. I also learned that our weights couldn't be changed once the system locked in a new body weight. That meant she would never gain her weight back, no matter how much she ate. She would be stuck looking like a half-starved, barely human stick figure forever. The thought almost made me smile.
