Trixie POV *The next day 4th period* I entered my leadership and development class which was becoming one of my favorites recently and took a seat next to the same boy and girl that I had been in my math class and talking weird the first day. I overheard them talking. “I think this would be so cool!” I heard the girl say. “I mean I haven’t bought in yet but Ill read the first book and give it a try.” I glanced over and then back down on my desk there were flyers about a book club meeting after school today and once a week. “You’ll have to read them to me.” I sighed, realizing I couldn’t get him off my lap. I could shove him, but he’s probably prepared for that and would deadweight or pop right back into my lap. It’d be an endless loop. So, I had to give up and endure. “My dad knows what I read. Uncle Alex started Bound To Please, a book club many of us in the ranked families across multiple packs are part of. We all enjoy reading paranormal romance because it’s an interesting escape to see how these humans have tried to describe our reality.” I explained.

“What are your ideas? “Uhmm, I think we should organize more community events.” She said. “We could have movie nights, dinners, game nights, and other activites that bring the pack together. We could do other things as well to make the pack more like a community, and less like a collection of individuals. “What do you think?” She asked. There was murmuring among the council members, I guess they are not in agreement, but I liked the idea and so I spoke out. “I like the sound of that.” I said.

He felt the unfamiliar stab of guilt. ‘What are you doing tonight?’ he said. The question made Pamela turn round. ‘It’s my book club.’ ‘Your book club?’ ‘Six to eight women,’ she explained, since he’d clearly never heard of the concept. ‘We all read a book and then afterwards we sit round and discuss it.’ He knitted his brows together. ‘And that’s supposed to be enjoyable?’ ‘That’s the general idea.’ ‘Cancel it.’ The answering smile he floated her was supremely confident. ‘Have dinner with me instead.’

“You’re one of those conspiracy people.” “I am,” she said proudly. “Thank you for noticing.” I poured tea into mugs and added sugar, too much, as usual. Bailey watched, horrified. “Sweet tea,” she said, sounding like she’d discovered a crime. “You’re a sweet tea person.” “Yes,” I said, defensive on principle. Bailey leaned closer, eyes gleaming. “Okay. So here’s what we do. We start a book club.” I blinked. “What?” “A book club,” she repeated, like it was obvious. “For romance. Specifically romantic fantasy. Specifically.” she lowered her voice again, conspiratorial “ the ones with wolves.”
