The Hunt for Knowledge

The Hunt for Knowledge

The others had followed her lead and were all headed to their own doors. “I guess the saying, ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover’ works on doors too,” Beecher teased, poised and ready to open his own door. It was not painted and in fact looked to be made of distressed wood. “If there was any justice you would find a doggie bed inside your door.” Aquina blushed, knowing she had been caught trying to find the fanciest room.

Taboo Heat: Tales Too Hot To Handle

Taboo Heat: Tales Too Hot To Handle

Holy shit, there's something behind those books. I'm examining the bookcase closest to the wall, every fucking inch. Now I see it. There's just a little gap between the outside one and the next one. The others are screwed tight. This is a fucking door. Really? This is so cliché, a secret fucking door. But why? Gold, baby, that's why.

But tonight's problem was not over the weekend, there was another matter which was very important and could not be left out. Adam opened a secret door in the reading room. A door with very sophisticated security. The door does not resemble a door like usual, at a glance anyone who enters the room will see that the door is like an ordinary bookshelf. Indeed, the door is in the form of a bookshelf to manipulate anyone who enters the room.

Do You Or Do You Not Want Me, Mate?

Do You Or Do You Not Want Me, Mate?

She was far from home and she was in unknown territory. Finding what he was looking for, he tilted the book with the title on its spine, To Kill A Mockingbird. A resounding click was heard, and the bookshelves parted into two like the Red Sea to reveal the titanium door with a security pad on the side. Phil punched in the codes in haste, and before you know it, they were inside the secret room.

Love For A Thousand Years

Love For A Thousand Years

He had bumped into one of the shelves near him. He bent down to get the book but then his eyes caught sight of something. At the lowest corner of the shelf, there’s a button placed. It was unnoticeable at first but as he looked closer, it was indeed a button. Without second thoughts, he pressed the button slightly, and just then, a rumbling sound came through. The supposedly locked door suddenly opened slowly which made him surprised. “What was that?!… It was an automated door?” So, there’s no key needed to open the door but they have to find the button that connects to it. And lucky for him, if not for the book falling down, he wouldn’t be able to find that button.

The Dark Alpha's Unwanted Luna

The Dark Alpha's Unwanted Luna

Sliding my hands into the pockets of my blue boot-cut jeans, I at long last noticed the details on the dark-brown wood of the doors. There was a carving of a faceless mother with an equally faceless girl on her lap, her arm was wrapped around the child’s neck and she was holding a book as she did so, reading to her. On the edges of the semi-circular doors were more carvings of half-opened books, full-opened books, closed books, dancing books, and flying books… in every possible angle, arranged at these heavy edges like a frame. There was also the carving of a faceless man with glasses on, in a kind of dignified kingly stance with a staff in one hand and an opened book in the other.

My Husband Wants Me Dead

My Husband Wants Me Dead

Kevin heard Clark's response clearly and reached for the third bookshelf in the bedroom. "Clark, something's not right! It won't open!" Kevin conveyed his confusion to Clark via a video call. Clark pointed to a book in front of Kevin and said, "Book." Kevin didn't initially understand why Clark mentioned the book. Nevertheless, he gently moved the book as suggested, and a hidden door, cleverly disguised as a bookshelf, slowly opened. Upon seeing the hidden door, Kevin couldn't help but exclaim in his mind, 'Damn! There really is a secret room!'

The story line is good, but the grammatical errors are far too distracting. This is a great first rough draft as it pulls you in. It beckons the reader to continue on with a sense of curiosity. I do have to put it down multiple times in order to break myself away from the frustration with errors.

Cursed Fate

Cursed Fate

, everyone yells in unison. I stand up and walk out of the room. I walk down the stairs and towards the backyard. I halt when I see a door. I have never seen this door before. I open the door and see an office with books in every shelf. A chair and table with a laptop on it, newspaper beside the laptop. I walk to the shelf in the hopes I see an intriguing book. I see one title, 'What lies beyond'. Catchy title. I will take it. I grab it and the shelf opens. I couldn't see anything because it is dark and smell of dust.

I Forgot Myself

I Forgot Myself

I said. He nodded and left my office, I glanced at the contract that Charlotte gave me then began to have doubts about signing it. I decided to go and check the books we had at the storeroom just to keep my mind busy. I went through the boxes that were there then I accidentally knocked a pile of books down, under that pile of books there was a button. I pressed the button and a secret door opened, behind it there was a passage which seemed like no one used it. I wanted to see where this passage went so, I slowly crawled through it which was a very long passage. There were voices up front so I became as silent as possible as I approached the voices.
