There was a small, hidden slot along the edge of the cover, almost invisible until you knew it was there. She took a deep breath, looked at Kael one more time, and slid the key into place. There was no loud noise, no flash of light. Just a soft, gentle click, and then the whole book seemed to breathe. The leather cover warmed, and when Elara lifted it open, the pages didn’t just show words they began to glow from within, bright but easy to look at, like sunlight through thin paper.

Opening the cabinet as I found myself behind the stool, I saw him pulling out a book. A black leather book, its edges gilded and a silver crescent moon shimmer on its front cover. “I read it here before about a case. Your case, Cassidy, is rare. Extremely rare.”

The house is quiet. Too quiet. Everyone is gathered around the dining table, books spread everywhere like a paper explosion. But the only sound is the soft rustle of pages as I open the book I found in my room, the one Liam gave me a few days ago and I somehow forgot existed. The prophecy book. I turned it to the side where there is no dirt and wipe the book using it. I saw a black cover with gold linings and designs. I touch the ribbons that are placed in some of the pages. There are symbols located at the bottom part of the cover, carved and painted in the color of gold, but I don’t understand what it means. I looked at the back but there were just designs. I tried opening it but there’s a metal lock on the side. Huh? Was this… a secret book? It kinda looked like a grimoire.
