Ismene turned and waltzed away from the grand desk at the center of the cavernous room. She glided over to one of the many shelves, her footsteps all but silent. The tome she plucked shimmered brightly, covered in a sheen of liquid gold and pure light.
The moment my eyes locked in on it, I wondered how I could’ve missed the thing to begin with.
It’s pages were sprayed with a metallic gold sheen the same shade as the whorls on the cream cover. While I couldn’t make out the title, I could feel the magic pulsating from within, washing the cavern in warmth.
