The Bookstore Temptation

The Bookstore Temptation

Holy. Lena closed the door, her hand skimming the edge as if shutting a holy vessel. She did not rush to turn off the lights. Rather, she walked between the shelves, letting her fingertips trace worn spines and whitened covers, breathing in the scent of paper and years. The bookstore was her sanctuary. Her cathedral.

The Mate Games

The Mate Games

It’s like my own personal heaven. I walk slowly between the rows, dragging my fingers along the spines of the books. Some are new. Some are so old their titles have faded off completely. I find books on werewolf history, on herbs and healing, on the different bloodlines of the kingdom. I even find one that looks like a cookbook, filled with strange ingredients I’ve never heard of. I lose track of time flipping through them, sinking into a worn leather chair near the center of the room. The quiet is peaceful. So different from the chaos outside these walls.

Деница Пеловска
I've read all 104 chapters released until now. I have to say that I really liked the book until the last 5 pages. The thoughtful, brave girl we all knew until now is now stupid female that almost became the reason the male character got killed. There is not really any reason that can be an excuse

Spices of passion - The charming cook of chef Isabella

Spices of passion - The charming cook of chef Isabella

She shook her head in agreement, waiting for an answer, while her boyfriend gave me an apologetic look. " 'Well, Lindsay, you ordered salmon in Sicilian lemon sauce.” " Yes, that's what I ordered," she confirmed with a smile. I glanced at Cora, who remained with that conciliatory expression on her face. " 'Salmon is a fish.” " Yes, but depending on the cooking method it doesn't taste fishy, and…” " Lindsay, the cooking method won't change the final protein, I could cook the steak a thousand different ways and it would still taste fishy, because it is a fish! " I was trying hard to make her understand how absurd her wish was.

Hanging in the balance

Hanging in the balance

The librarian, a wise old man with spectacles perched on his nose, had greeted them warmly and invited them to explore the dusty shelves filled with ancient tomes. As Scarlett's fingers grazed the spines of the books, a particular leather-bound volume caught her eye. Its title, "The Prophecy of the Shifting Stars," called to her with an inexplicable pull. She plucked it from the shelf and dusted off its cover, revealing faded golden letters etched into the leather. Curiosity burned within Scarlett. She opened the book and began to read aloud, her voice barely above a whisper. The words flowed like poetry from her lips, resonating deeply within her soul.

A little Cinderella moment

A little Cinderella moment

“How chivalrous of you, I didn’t expect for you to pick up a smut book like that to read.” “I presume you have read them too?” “I read them out of curiosity, and it was the love story is what I was more interested in. It had nothing to do with the sex scenes, it was the connection between the two characters that had me read it multiple times.” Why did I just say that to him? I’m an idiot he’s gonna know I am into those sorts of books. But for the reason I said yeah, I enjoy the smut and spice in them but it’s the romance connection that has me wanting to read them.

Her Rebirth , His Regret

Her Rebirth , His Regret

I step forward to push the door open, but she beats me to it. “Come in.” She enters first, and I follow. The smell of old books and warm lily fragrance fills the haven of books. “Do you like tea or coffee?” “Whichever you prefer, I will take.” She rolls her eyes up, darting them to the side in a pondering way. “I don’t like tea, but I can’t have coffee. So it’s tea then.” “Tea then.” “Sugar or no sugar?” “Three cubes will be fine.” She nods and disappears between the shelves of books. Being in her space feels like I am being interviewed for a job.

The Magical Word of Maddie. The Red Queen

The Magical Word of Maddie. The Red Queen

The spice cabinet contained a lot of herbs in bottles, jars, and boxes. Dried, ground, cut, tincture infused. And many bottles of composed drinks. And of course a very high pile of books, magazines, folders, notebooks. All with spells that corresponded to all those herbs. It was going to be a long afternoon. They had to work hard to be ready for the evening. ‘How are things really?’ Esmee asked suddenly. ‘What?’ Maddie took a sip of her tea. ‘Well, I mean the sex.’ Esmee looked at her closely.

he interrupted. “Stop following me Jax,” I commanded establishing my authority changing the conversation because at the end of the day he was just a massive fan of mine. “No, I want recommendations on books, preferably the slow burns with two people trying to fight their connection when they were soulmates from the moment they met but they were blind.” I know what he was doing. He was trying to describe our romance but ours was a tragedy, not a romance in my books anyway. I huffed annoyed and played his game, by saying “I would recommend Birthday Girl by Penelo-“

Frequently Asked Questions

Spice levels in books are totally a thing, and as someone who’s navigated this terrain for years, I love how communities have created their own informal rating systems. Romance novels, for example, often get ranked from 'sweet' (closed-door scenes) to 'steamy' (explicit but not overwhelming) and 'scorching' (full-on erotic). Websites like Goodreads or BookTok are goldmines for this—readers will tag books with emojis like 🌶️ or 🔥 to signal heat. I’ve even seen detailed spreadsheets breaking down tropes and spice, which is hilariously meticulous but so useful.

Personally, I appreciate when authors or publishers include content warnings upfront. Some indie romances now use heat meters on their covers, which feels like a win for reader transparency. If you’re curious, diving into genre-specific subreddits or Discord servers can yield personalized recs. My favorite discovery? A 'spice ladder' infographic that compared popular series—turns out, 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' sits midway, while 'Ice Planet Barbarians' is at the volcanic end.
