Ash throws his head and pushes me towards the trees as I freeze. My father was going to shoot me. A gun shot goes off and bark from the tree in front of us explodes as a bullet hits it. Ash barks at me, shoving me with his shoulder causing me to stumble. I pull myself up right and dart into the tree's, Ash on my tail as I hear my dad shouting after us, another gunshot echoing through the trees. Ash's shoulder brushes my flank as we scurry through the snow, racing past trees and bushes. A rabbit launches from its place in the snow and scrambles away from us.

Stephen smirked. “Yeah you’re right. This place fits me well.” They all talked for a while but now it was getting dark the moon was coming out. “We should probably go inside.” Greg said. “I think the supper’s also ready.” Stephen told. Dara kept on looking at the moon. It seemed as the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. Ellen shook Dara, “Come on honey it’s getting dark and cold.” Dara went inside with her family but she wished to stare at that beautiful thing for a little longer.

Gunner didn’t respond, he just stared at me wide eyed. “Gunner?” I whispered, stepping closer to him. “I’m sorry, say that again” he mumbled with a shake of his head. I took a deep breath and smiled, “I passed out, yes? Well, that happened because the Moon Goddess, Selene, called me to her home” “The Ethereal Plane?” Gunner cut in,

As the last of them skittered away, Damien turned his predatory gaze back on Kiera, baring his fangs hungrily. "The Blood Moon has graced me with a rare beauty to bear my heirs," he leered, beginning to disrobe. "How privilege it will be to make you mine in every way, little Luna." Kiera's heart pounded as she shrank back against the ornate wooden frame of the nuptial mattress. This domineering brute was truly the stuff of nightmares. Before she could formulate a plea or retort, Damien pounced - his sheer body weight pinning her effortlessly as he wasted no time claiming her.

His palm glowed orange, faint at first, then brighter, pulsing like molten fire. The woman beside him giggled. The other man whispered something, and the air around them trembled. “What the hell is that?” someone shouted. The glow grew from the size of a baseball to a basketball, swirling with light that burned brighter than the sun. The heat pressed against the bus’s windows. My pulse roared in my ears. “Everyone out!” someone screamed. The passengers surged toward the door but it was too late. The man flicked his wrist. The blazing sphere shot forward like a comet.

Em laughed. “No matter! I don’t have any plans.” “Okay great. I’ll call Aspen and Mickey. Let’s go home and shower and see if they’ll meet us there.” A couple hours later the girls pulled up outside a place called ‘Midnight Ink’. “Erm. Em? What are we doing here? When you said you had an idea I was leaning more toward the idea of burgers and fries.” Sylvia said. Em smiled. “I promise we will do that next. And then off to the movies to see the new horror film?” The one they’d never gotten to go to the last time. Em looked at Mickey as she spoke.

*ZARA’S POV* The Moonwell glows faintly in the predawn light, its waters rippling as if stirred by an unseen hand. The grove is silent now, the echoes of battle replaced by the soft rustle of leaves and the occasional chirp of waking birds. My body aches, every muscle protesting as I kneel beside the well, my fingers trailing through the cool, silvery water. “She’s here,” Selene whispers, her voice carrying an otherworldly echo. She stands beside me, her tiny hand gripping mine, her eyes glowing faintly with the same light that dances on the water’s surface.

She hadn't found it when the timestamp showed me on the fire escape above. But her eyes had moved upward a full second before I landed. She had heard me dropping from three stories in the dark, in that state, surrounded by werewolves. A human woman had heard me before I hit the ground, hmm, curious. Something inside my chest made a sound I hadn't heard in more than a decade. A sound like the warning sound a beam makes when the weight is finally past what it was built to hold. SLAM! I closed the feed, pressed two fingers to the bridge of my nose and sat in the grey quiet of my office while the city outside assembled itself for morning.

Young couples exchange tokens of love beneath the glowing moon. Yet, I can’t relax. My gaze keeps darting to Damon, to Cain, to Garrett, who I’m sure is here somewhere waiting patiently for the right moment. By the time the toasts begin, the children have all fallen asleep, sprawled out on blankets near the shrine. Pack members gather around the shrine. Damon raises his goblet, his voice carrying over the crowd. “To the Moon Goddess, who watches over us all. May her light guide us through darkness.” Earlier, I subtly switched his goblet with Cain's and no one noticed.

His hot breath washed over me, making my skin prickle with fear, and I felt his gaze like a physical touch, making me shudder. The chains creaked and groaned, straining against the beast's fury. I knew it was only a matter of time before Romain broke free, and I was consumed by the horror that loomed before me. The Moon Goddess seemed to have abandoned me, leaving me to face this terror alone.
