I clenched my teeth, trying to keep my composure. “You don’t get to decide that for me.”
Roman didn’t say anything, though I noticed his shoulders tensed slightly at Ardan’s words. Before the argument could escalate, the door creaked open, and Rachel stepped in with a pale face. It was urgent. Draven followed close behind her with a satchel of old books slung over his shoulder.
“We’ve found something,” Rachel said.
In the war room, Draven spread open one of the ancient books he and Rachel had been studying. Its pages were yellow and fragile but it was covered with intricate diagrams and strange
