Book Review: The Power Of Habit Novels & Stories

Interesting. The door shut behind him quietly. I sat alone again while rain continued sliding down the windows behind me. The study smelled faintly like coffee, paper, and old wood carrying moisture from the storm outside. Seven years building this operation had taught me something most people misunderstood about power. She found herself saying out loud as she opened a book which she found interesting from his shelf. The title of the book was "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. She was so fascinated in the last page of the book and the thoughts swirling in her head that she wasn't aware of her surroundings anymore.

He simply nods, gets up a few minutes later, and quietly leaves. After he's gone, I put away the leftovers and the plates. I take the welcome gifts — the fruit basket, the small bottle of wine Shawn brought earlier, and a white box I haven't opened yet — and place them inside my wardrobe. Then I change into my nightwear, slip into my robe, and sit by the window. I open my all-time favorite book, 48 Laws of Power, and begin to read. Midway through a chapter, I remember—I was supposed to place a call. I get up, walk to my handbag, and retrieve the card Shawn gave me.

I even found the karma sutra amongst what I can only classify as the ‘self help’ section, opening it and then quickly closing it in case Enzo or his mother entered the room. A large book at the end of the shelf entitled “The Power and Responsibility of Men” caught my eye. It seemed to be more weathered than the rest of the books, but I didn't get why. “Who would be drawn to a book like that?” I asked myself, pulling it from the shelf.

I wonder and then my eyes fall on the wall clock which is hanging on the wall in front of me. It's 7:34 PM. I gulp and go inside. The door of the room is still open and I eventually forget about it. I see two bookshelves on the right side of the room. I walk towards them and scan the books. The Silent Patient, The Art Of Dealing With People, Criminal Psychology, Bad Science, The Power Of Your Conscious Mind, Thinking Fast And Slow, Atomic Habits, Rationality, Talking To Strangers, Righteous Mind, The Theory Of Everything.
