Epilogue In every story, I read there are two endings. It's either happy or sad. Half of my life was revolving around thinking how a fairy tales book, novel, short story or parable would end. But this time I was thinking about how would my story end. Is it true there is a happy ending? Is it true that everything has an ending? Or is dead the end of everyone? Because while thinking deeply my story started when I died. So if death is the ending of everyone, it seems very impossible. Yet in life, I know everyone has a role to play before they passed away and that thing God has shown me that many times in different ways.

So it will be better not to be involved with him in any way. During her free time, Rhianne always thinks of the future. She only read a few pages of the story. So Rhianne did not know how the story will end. But because the book she read was a romance story, the male lead and the female lead obviously will have a good and happy ending. But she did not know and will never have a chance to read on what obstacles and challenges the main characters will face before they reach their happy ending. Who told her to die early anyway?

A pity. “Are you even listening to me?” I lifted my eyes from the book in my hand. The Mark of Exile. It was the sequel to The Corpse in the Fog—a crime story about a man killing the lover of the woman he desperately wanted. You could say I was taking notes of very effective and interesting ways to kill Zesa’s lover. I’d had enough of him impeding my happiness.

A scalpel, a syringe, forceps, scissors, some long needles, a knife, a bowl containing oil, and several transparent little bottles—vials, were all arranged on the table. Some containers were filled with a white, colourless liquid, and the rest held some kind of dark fluid in them. There was a big bag pack sitting in the corner of the table. Kevin watched him move over to the table. He took out a book from the bag. Recognition crossed Kevin’s features at the sight of the book. “Seven Most Painful Ways to Die,” the title read in bold red ink. The book he’d seen in Cedric’s room. T-Murek flipped pages to its centre and placed it on the table before him.

Soon the spurts subsided and the five braced themselves to turn, each unaware of who had dealt the deathblow, and hoping against hope that it had not been them. Eddie gave a final kick. His arm dangled over the side of the rubber-covered hospital mattress. He was still now, as graceful in death as Geraldine hoped he had managed to be in life. Though of that, she wasn’t the judge and jury. Yes, the world may be ending, but she still believed in some things. The walls around the end of the bed, like the floor beneath those soon to squeak wheels, were adorned with ruby pinwheels of blood. It was an ugly, yet beautiful sight. Exquisite and pure.

And then, she saw another somewhat familiar name. “Duke Liam Almandine marched to the South with Archmage Heinrich Hyacinth... and the Army of Lycans.” She mumbled the names, she voiced her suspicions. “Liam...” A sliver of thought passed her mind. That coffee cup... She focused back on the book and read the story through the night. She finished the book at three in the morning, thanks to her talent for fast reading. In the last chapter, the Villain won the war. He killed everyone. He killed the two main characters, but Harriet weirdly felt that wasn’t the important thing here.

I froze, thinking, 'Is this from the original Maddison? Did she just write to me?' She continued writing. [No matter what, my ending is death. If I don't die, Ashton won't be able to start his new life, so please kill yourself somewhere he won't know about it. This way, you can go home, and Ashton can start over.] She wrote a lot more. Only then did I realize she knew she was just a side character in a book who would die eventually. Even though I had changed her fate that day, the story's ending was something that could not be reversed.
