If that isn’t your cup of tea, please do not read this book. With this story, I wanted to do a lot of things differently but the one angle that stands out to me is the child/pregnancy trope. I’ve always read a lot of books that utilize children/pregnancy as a trope and plot point. I’ve done it in the past with my books, but as a proud member of the childfree-by-choice community, I felt it is about time I represent that tiny section of humanity too. I wanted to subvert the pregnancy trope. My characters here are adamantly and unapologetically child-free. I apologize to anyone this might offend, but I just wanted to try something different.
