Lauren Beukes. All horror, violence, and morbid. Certainly not what Jade preferred to read. The magazines held a different texture, they were smooth but thinner, and her fingertip snagged every crevice. She plucked a random one out and examined the cover. Vogue. Flipping through the magazine, she noted several of the corners were folded as a bookmark. She glanced over the articles on those pages: Interviews with influential people, food and drink reviews, and beauty products.

Sasha was hesitating to enter pass the school gate. It seems like she's going to be more in trouble today than usual. I'm not tough but here I go, she thought and walk inside. Opening her locker to get some books, a few folded paper fell. She knows what those papers are; warnings from her bullies. Although she knows what's written inside, she would always read them. It has the same words like "you're ugly" "quit school" "go die" . Sometimes, she wonder how those bully think and why they think like that when she hasn't done anything wrong. She pities them, most of the time.

From whom? Tears burn my eyes, and I let them fall. However, I quickly wipe them. Crying doesn't help; it doesn't change anything. I need to find a way to leave this pack soon. I lie on my mattress, wrapped in a blanket. It smells familiar. I found it here last year on my birthday with one of my favorite books, To Kill a Mockingbird. Someone had even left chocolate bars. Perhaps they had no use for them and thought it was storage, but I'm grateful nonetheless.
