Books Without Happy Endings Novels & Stories

"Yeah." "But that was two months ago." "Exactly. The book ended. We didn't." "So what happens in the sequel?" Cale asked. "If there are no death threads? If there is no countdown?" "There is no sequel. This is just... the rest of our lives." "That sounds... unstructured." "It's freedom." Cale stood up. He picked up the book. He walked to the bookshelf. He placed it next to the old, battered notebook—the original Archive.

Logan’s voice boomed hauntingly. When did he get back? “Change it.” Leaning closer, he propped his hands on the back of my seat. Pulling me into his arms, he stared at the monitor. “The protagonist doesn’t die. “He kills everyone and whisks her away to a deserted island. “And they live happily ever after.” What sort of happy ending was that? It was like a psychological thriller. “But… that’s not the ending I’m into.” “The readers’ opinion doesn’t matter.” He breathed into my ear.

⸻ But endings? ⸻ Endings defined reality. ⸻ Without an ending… A story could not exist. ⸻ 🌙 The Missing Future The Keeper slowly opened the book again. 📖 ⸻ The title still remained. ⸻ THE LAST STORY ⸻ The story of Ilyaan. ⸻ The story of reality. ⸻ The story currently unfolding. ⸻ Yet every page after the present moment remained blank. ⸻ Nothing. ⸻

he stopped abruptly and looked at me. “I didn’t know what happened next because the book was gone,” he said sadly and I grinned bitterly. "Ahh! I'm hooked on the story, after all, what do you think is the end of that story?" I asked and thought for a moment. "Hmm..not all stories end happily ever after, sometimes there are stories that have a tragic end," he replied and I agreed. "What if someone dies among the protagonists in the story?" I asked as I thought about it.

“It is just a novel.” “It. Is. Just. A. Novel.” He picked a fluffy romance book and thrust it into my hands forcefully. “But, it can affect your mood. So, you are allowed to read only those stories that make you happy.” I bit my lower lip as I browsed through the pages of the book; briefly glancing at the ending. What Kain didn’t understand was that such happy endings hurt more than the tragic ones. They filled me with a longing I knew could never be fulfilled. They reminded me of everything that I could never have.

Her dream was for me to graduate, and I didn't want to let her down. After school, I go straight to work and return home around 2 a.m., exhausted and fed up with this life. The only thing that calms me down and makes my day better is when I get back and continue reading my books. They are the only thing I will have with me for the rest of my life. They've become a part of me, and I never leave the house without them. They are like an escape from reality, letting me forget about my boring life.

We leaned in. Text unfurled: KEY AUTHOR INTRODUCED AS ANOMALOUS VARIABLE TO INCREASE RATINGS. TRAGIC POTENTIAL: HIGH. IDEAL ENDING: AUTHOR CORE MERGE OR PUBLIC EXECUTION. My hands curled around the edge of the book until the paper creased. “‘Ideal ending,’” I repeated. I flipped to the back. A whole section was devoted to “OUTCOME PROJECTIONS,” each with a neat label: STANDARD TRAGIC ENDING: AUTHOR DIES SAVING OTHERS. SYSTEM CONTINUES.

Well,I'll be waiting for her. It really feels like the end is near, you know the beginning of a new beautiful world. Me,Mark and our baby. I guess even the longest journey still and must have a end. What is beautiful about novels,it's always the ending, it doesn't matter if its a tragic ending or beautiful ending but the fact that we continued till the end. Though I always prefer happy endings.

Hello Y’all, I just want to thank you all for reading this book till the end. I know a lot of readers aren't so pleased with the ending but I believe there should be a little reality in every story. After all that has happened between them, it would really be weird if they ended up together. I don't know if there will be book two or not, but while I work on something new for you all, you can try reading my other books. They all have a happy ending.

he flicked the top of her head with his fingers, "goodnight." And with a huff, she lay on the bed, and as he watched her, his head hung. Not every story had a happy ending; some ended with chaos, sadness, and darkness so intense it swallowed you up and made you beg to be let out, knowing it was the only comfort you'd ever get, you stayed in. "Zayne," Jane's sleepy voice came up, "I'll make the story have a happy ending if you don't want to." He smiled, "Alright, go on."
