There’s a full display for it decorating an endcap. Debbie recommends the entire series, but I figure I better start with just the first. After consulting the list, I pluck the first one from the top of the shelf.

No one was present and I had all the time choosing and deciding what I wanted. "You can buy three books, maximum" Karthik added from beside me. Only three books? Just three books out of all these eye-catching feasts before me? I wish I could buy the whole shelf because there were wide varieties of books also the books I wanted to read so badly which had been stuck on my wish list for years. I could see the Harry Potter series pocking out of the fantasy section; my all-time favorite book. But I had already read them back home so it's a waste of time. I also saw Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books to my left which excitingly was the crime and thriller section, I had almost read all of them too. I

He asks with something in his voice I can't quite identify. "You don't know." I say with a slight chuckle in my voice. "Just pick one." I watch idle as he sifts through all the books until he picks one. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas. "That is one of my favourite books. Although I might just be biased because I love her writing." I lean back in the chair with a satisfied look on my face. "What makes you love someone's writing?" He sits back in his chair and looks at me curiously.

Joshua pondered on it, then handed two books to Ambrose. Ambrose took them and read their titles. "Think Like A Woman" and "Women's Deepest Secrets". Ambrose looked at Joshua in confusion. "What are these?" "I bought them on the way here." Joshua pointed at the book covers and said, "These are common must-knows in dating. They are perfect for you to study. Take your time to study and understand it. "When your foundation is firm, then I can teach you more. This is the best that I can do for you!"

The familiar scent of aged paper and ink filled my lungs—a welcome home of sorts. Without a specific volume in mind, I figured it would be best to just browse through until I saw something that sounded like it would help. Trailing my fingers along the spines as I looked, the familiar leather a comfort, I stopped on a book titled "A Kingdom from Ash: The Ashbourne Reign." I slid it off the shelf, cradling its weight in my arms as I continued my search. By the time I’d looked over all the shelves, I added three more books to my pile—"A Compendium of Bonding," "The Moon Goddess’s Blessed," and "Vampires: Blood and Legend."

She is smiling like she found something that just made her day. “What’s with the books?” Romy bounced onto the bed, “First, the romance book section in your library is awesome. We totally need to check it out together. Second, I got these pack law books. These are the first two of four.” I smiled. Of course, she had already gone to the library. Her weapon is her mind and sharp tongue. She uses them well, too. “Did you find something interesting?”

I squeak at the end. Damn it. He’s caught me by surprise, and it’s making me nervous. “Smut isn’t what I had in mind.” “It’s just a romance novel, Daddy.” I knew the cigarettes would get me in trouble, but I’m surprised he’s harping on the book. He’s always got his nose in a book—sometimes some classic, since he’s a lit professor, but just as likely a thriller, and he knows I love a good romance as much as he loves a good save-the-world-from-the-bad-guys adventure.

I need to take time. I remember the small room I entered last time. I slowly opened the door and turned on the lampshade. The books on the table were still scattered. I tried to look and read each one of them. These are all interesting books. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a lot more. I tried to find something that might help me, but I found nothing.
