Rejected then Claimed by the Alpha
Nita Valeshe said you can't know what i've done
I sank to the floor, my knees hitting the cold ground, my hands covering my face as sobs ripped out of me.
I cried until my throat was raw, until my body shook with every breath. I cried for Ari, so small and helpless. I cried for my mother, gone too soon. I cried for the man I once loved, who had grown so distant, so cold, I could not reach him no matter how hard I tried.
And I cried for myself for being foolish enough to hope, foolish enough to believe I still belonged anywhere near him.
The book sat on the table, silent, heavy. Its presence was unbearable, yet I could not let it go.
