Boring Books For Bedtime Novels & Stories

I’ve been sleeping tоо muсh to hаvе another nap. I thіnk again about rеаdіng a book or watching TV. I remember whаt mу mum uѕеd tо say when I wаѕ bоrеd аѕ a kіd. Do ѕоmеthіng. Wrіtе ѕоmеthіng. Go оutѕіdе.

00 at night, I still have an hour to read this book. “I'm sorry, madam, it's only 09.00 at night, isn't bedtime every 10.00 at night? If I still have an hour and I can't sleep well, that's why I come here to just read a book to relieve boredom. Bedtime. Usually, this was Aurora's domain. It was her sacred hour, the time when the CEO vanished and the "Maman" took over. She would read Goodnight Moon or The Little Prince, her voice a soft, rhythmic lullaby that chased away the dragons. But tonight, Liam stood in the doorway. He was wearing a simple gray t-shirt and sweatpants, his feet bare on the plush carpet. He held a book in his hand. Not a picture book. A chapter book.

I whispered with a loving smile, "which story would you like tonight?" Mathew's face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. "The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!" I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf's grand adventure. Mathew listened with rapt attention, his eager eyes fixed on the pages as I spun the tale of bravery and exploration. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.

Can't breathe lying down. "This is miserable," I groan at three in the morning. Still awake. Caius is awake too. Reading. "Want me to get you more pillows?" "I have seventeen pillows. More won't help." "Want me to read to you? Might help you relax." "Fine. But nothing boring. I'll fall asleep angry." He reads one of his favorite books. Something about ancient magic theory. His voice is soothing even when the content is dry. I fall asleep somewhere around chapter three.

He hopped on the bed and sighed in content, beaming at me. “This is your room?” I asked incredulously. It was so...mundane and boring. No pretty wrist watches, toy trucks or planes. Just books and writing kits. “Yeah,” he nodded proudly. “You like it?” I shrugged, plopping down on the edge of the bed, stalling for time. Honestly, it was a boring room. But I couldn't say that to a kid. “It's nice. Might need some work, but it's cool.” He gestured to the desk. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul is over there. Can you read it to me, please?”

Bored and restless, I wandered from room to room, searching for something to occupy my mind. In Bella’s room, I spotted a book on her nightstand—Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. I had heard good things about it, so I decided to give it a shot. I curled up on her bed, diving into the pages. For a while, it worked—I was able to lose myself in the story and momentarily forget the unease tugging at me. But, of course, that didn’t last long.

Surprisingly, I don't find the idea disturbing. Feeling boredom as it sets in quickly, I make my way over to the bookshelf. I start to peruse the titles and am shocked at what I find. I see the House of Night Series, The Twilight Series, Forbidden Knowledge, Harry Potter Trilogy, and various books on Military Protocols all with black covers. The books are all in good condition too. Not interested in any of the military books I reach for the first book in the House of Night Series. As I take the book over to the couch to settle in, the door swings open.
