Refusing to feel stupid, I discarded the text and opted to call him instead, but there was no answer, and after a while,he blocked my number. My heart became heavy as I saw my mother weep, almost everything we had went to dad's upkeep but his heart kept failing him, now he has to undergo a surgery. I met with the doctor in charge, and told him to make preparations. All I had left was the payment from the wedding job. Fortunately I had enough to pay for the surgery after paying my staff. We were told to wait outside, while the operation was being carried out on dad, I could feel the pressure in mom's hand as she squeezed mine. “He'll be alright,” I tried to comfort her. The surgery went on for three hours, we waited patiently for the doctor to come out.

He remembered how I'd encouraged him constantly, afraid he'd feel inadequate, always telling him he was amazing. He remembered when I'd offered to donate my kidney. On the surface, he'd been moved. Inside, he'd felt nothing but selfish relief and joy that he'd be saved. All the sacrifices he'd taken for granted, all the "petty concerns" he'd dismissed, now haunted him mercilessly. Finally, he understood. He'd pushed away the only person in the world who truly loved him—his only chance at survival. But it was too late. His condition continued to deteriorate. His organs began to fail one by one.
