The Alpha I shouldn't crave
Marcus fought like water, flowing around my attacks and finding openings I didn't know I'd left, and within minutes I was gasping, struggling to keep up with someone who clearly had decades more experience.
"You're telegraphing your moves," he said, disarming me with a twist of his wrist that sent my branch flying. "You commit too early, leave yourself open."
"Then teach me," I demanded, hands on my knees, sweat dripping onto the forest floor. "If you're going to catch me anyway, at least make it worth something."
Something shifted in his expression, and he nodded slowly. "Again, and this time think three moves ahead."
