My breath caught in my throat as I slowly lifted my head. And the moment I did, every part of me went completely still.

And my body betrayed me. A single, sharp intake of breath. It was small, a tiny hitch in the rhythm of my breathing, but it was there. It was not a sound. It was not a moan. It was a reflex, a spasm of muscle and nerve that my mind had not authorized. I caught it instantly, clamping my mouth shut, forcing the air back out slowly, silently. I went rigid, my entire being focused on erasing the moment, on retracting the response. But it was too late.

JOSH POV I can’t catch my breath. I’m having trouble with my lungs. They don’t seem to be working anymore. But that doesn’t happen, right? Lungs don’t just STOP working for no medical reason. It’s like the air is stuck in my throat; trapped in a shallow cavern within my chest. My heart is beating frantically, racing away like an out-of-control race car with no driver at the wheel. I know what this is. I know why I can’t breathe and it’s not because I’m sick with some unknown medical ailment.

Unable to catch my breath, my hand clutched at my heart-I recognized every one of those people. And there, on the floor in front of me, was Brett-kneeling. My heart and lungs finally caught up with each other, but the breaths were deep, and the beats were hard. I sat in stunned silence, and Brett's hand still lingered casually on my knee. The crowd was eerily still, and the silence was deafening. He hadn't moved, but the light caught my attention as it reflected off the signature, pale blue box open in his other hand. The fingers that had clutched my heart now covered my mouth, and my eyes found Brett's for the first time.

I felt overheated as Daniel and I went over each and every item on the list. The one item that really caught my attention though? Breath play. Asphyxiation, breath control, choking.I think I finally caught Daniel off guard when I told him I wanted to experience it. What was it like to be controlled by another person, maybe, choked a little? I whispered that last bit. But he heard me. I wanted him to take me seriously, so I didn't laugh at the look on his face when I said that. The laughter left me quickly when he leaned in. I felt his breath on my neck and his...nose in my hair?...Did he just sniff me?

His head fell to the side, and his breathing slowly regulated, his eyes widened… He was caught.
