LOUIS'S POV If I am being honest, I don't want her as my wife or anything remotely related, in fact, I don't want her in my life but looking for a substitute Bride has been more difficult than I thought. For the last three to four days or so, Tommy and I have interviewed more than ten ladies for the position of a temporary bride and there is something always terribly wrong with all the candidates... It's almost like the universe is against me getting married.

Isabella isn't in the room and I glance around, wondering where she has gone when I hear the shower running. She must be in the bathroom. I was thinking she had gone somewhere else in embarrassment of what she had done to humiliate me but it's ok. I understand that she is only trying to help. I am thinking of going out to give her enough time to come out and get dressed when my gaze falls on the book on the sectional sofa. It looks like a novel so I pick it up. The title is MAIL-ORDER BRIDE and it looks like a romantic novel from the 20th century. I can figure it out from the cover of the book which has a bride and a man in a frock.

Eli was busy with a lot of work in his study right now, giving her the opportunity to sneak off to her room and pull out the Black book. Her hands trembled as she grabbed it out of where she had carefully tucked it away. With a deep breath, she opened it and started skimming through it. A could of pages in and she knew this was a book she would not be returning. There was just so much information, she would need the whole book with her and a few jottings will never be able to do justice. There were the 199 names of the past brides, the village they were from, the night they were chosen, and the night of their suspected disappearance.

Smiled. “Instead,” he said, stepping back, “I’ve asked someone else to be my bride.” My knees nearly gave way but I stood still, every cell in my body screaming. Out of the crowd, she stepped forward. Clarissa. My sister. Wearing my dress. "Liam," I breathed. "What are you doing?" He didn’t answer me. He extended his hand, to her. “Clarissa, love, come here.” And just like a rehearsed pageantry, she strode down the red carpet, a smile carved on her lips as she walked towards him, confident, calm and cruel.
