I replied as I exited her office. I finally decided to take the next step and apply for a business loan for my construction company. Truthfully, I should have handled this a while ago. I had a business plan and everything that was needed. Deep down, I think I was nervous about being rejected. It seemed that after my marriage from Skylar failed, my confidence level had diminished a little. Since being with Devyn, though, my confidence had returned. So now instead of just working on establishing my company, I was one step closer to actually having it.

I nodded my head as I couldn't help but agree with her. Bidding her goodbye, I exited the kitchen and then the main door. As soon as I stepped out of the main door, the harsh sunbeam fell directly on my eyes, blurring my vision. I blinked my eyes until my distorted vision merged into transparency and definition. I began to walk in the direction of the market. After twenty minutes of walking, my steps suddenly came to a halt as I saw the scene unfold in front of me. The road was blocked as there was construction going on.

I couldn't help but notice that my body was not trembling. My chest was now tight and I was having difficulty taking in deep breaths. I cleared my throat and felt the first tear leak from my eyes, "Bryce, we have nothing to say to each other that wasn't already said two years ago. I'm sorry but I don't want to see. Do us both a favor and don't call me again." I quickly pushed end on my cell phone and put the phone down. In that moment I unclenched my fist and released the first set of tears that hadn't been released for years.
