In the end, I couldn't take it anymore and rushed into the fire department with a bouquet of roses.

"I don't want to go back to that house... I can't breathe there. Every move I make, Dad has something to say about it. I don't want to go home... please, don't take me back." She still seemed drunk... but I knew Alina. She hated letting anyone see her like this, hated showing this vulnerable side of herself. "Please," I gasp out before I can stop myself. I can feel the fire dulling, constricting, and I can't let it. Not when my body had to go through so much pain for it.

Chapter 1: Into the Inferno The roar of the flames was deafening, like the devil himself breathing down their necks. Dante Reyes kicked through another burning door, his heavy turnout gear already feeling like a furnace. At thirty five, he had seen hell more times than he could ever count, but this super fire fueled by climate dried forests and years of corporate greed was something else entirely. “Anyone here?!” he bellowed, voice muffled by his mask. "Can anyone hear me, he shouted."

He gazed at the portrait of the beard man on the wall with resentment. August followed his gaze where their father's picture was hanged.
