“Hey, Ivy.” When I get to her, my eyes are drawn to a small object in her grip—a vape. She follows my gaze to her hand, then rolls her eyes with a pout. “Oh, come on, Grey,” she murmurs drowsily. She takes a long drag, releasing a cloud of smoke into the air. “It’s not a secret anymore. Not to you, at least.” Looking at her fully now from close range, I notice how red rimmed her eyes are, and how her gaze is loped and drowsy. I can't tell for how long she's been like this, but she's certainly intoxicated.

“The gallery director’s out now. I’ll have a quick word with his assistant.” Ivy nodded. “Go ahead. I can look around on my own.” He studied her for a beat, as if making sure she’d be fine, then walked away with the staff member. Ivy drifted toward the left side of the room, her eyes catching on a mountain landscape. The cool blues of the sky and the soft greens of the slopes were soothing, yet there was a quiet loneliness woven into each brushstroke. She lingered there for a long while. “You’ve got good taste,” a deep yet warm voice said beside her.

His phone screen was still lit, unlocked. I saw his conversation with Ivy. Joe wrote, [I can't abandon Belle. She's given too much for me.] And Ivy had replied, [Joe, you're brilliant.
