The air between us changed.
His smile was slow, tender. “You don’t have to apologize, amore mio.” He reached out, brushing his thumb along my jaw. “We’ll go to all those places. Every single one. And maybe tomorrow,” he added, his voice lower now, “we’ll take a drive around the city. Just you and me.”
Something in my chest melted.
It was ridiculous, really—how easily he made me feel seen.
I nodded, trying not to grin too hard, but the happiness bubbling inside me refused to stay quiet. It felt like I was waking up after a long winter, sunlight finally hitting my skin again.
