She screamed at Carissa’s retreating figure, “Are you saying otherwise?” Carissa didn’t turn around or offer a reply. Her silhouette stretched in the firelight as she leaped gracefully into the air, soaring towards the city tower. Her form was swift as an eagle. As she neared the city tower, she ascended easily and landed atop it. She glanced back towards the open field, where the cracks were still clearly visible. Indeed; with poor character, one might as well be blind.

I got more confused with the drama. “Yeah, brother because we’re both from the same country, right?” Don Carlos raised his brows. “Now, you can’t force no one to give ears to you shithole craft. If you have one, why not put it down on papers and fucking get it to Harper. Huh!” That was harsh—harsher than was needed. Like the words are waiting for me.” Cássia’s smile softened a little, teasing coarseness fading into something gentle. “That sounds nice, Caro. But be careful. Newark isn’t São Paulo, and you’re not here where I can slap you when you start giving too much of yourself away. … promise me you won’t let him be the only thing propping you up.” I pressed my lips together, chewing the inside of my cheek. “I promise.” Her grin came back, as cunning as ever. “But if you do keep doodling his smile in the margins, at least show me next time.”
