I was already moving. Something pulled me, rib deep and unrelenting, straight to her. A war axe. Double headed. Ruby in the hilt. Wicked and perfect. I reached out. She flew into my palm, sealing to me with a sting and a rush of blood, and I exhaled. Complete. I twirled her, stepped onto the mat, and danced. A blur of slashes and pivots, cuts and power. When I stopped, the room was dead silent. Damaris clapped once. “Rowyn has found her weapon. Keep looking, everyone.”

I needed to go southeast towards the rebellion, not southwest. We had already reached the border of Cardinal city’s district, or should I say ‘Osprey city.’ Usually, this would have been at least a two-day ride on horseback or carriage. I was making good time, but I still didn’t know where my wings were taking me, other than they were not taking me where I wanted to go.

Her wolf was restless under her skin, still humming from Axel’s presence, still clawing at her ribs with the word she refused to acknowledge. “Funny,” Reed said at last, sliding off his gloves. Sabrina hovered close to Raven, looking like she wanted to disappear. Cole leaned against the wall, his grin smug and sharp.

Rayne wondered and I nodded, explaining the card thing to her. "So if five people have the card, it means only these people know the dimensions of the cameras, excluding 2 of them which are you and Roland, that leaves three suspects," Rayne thought out loud. "What makes you remove Adrian and me from being suspects?" Roland asked her and I could tell that she was startled. "What are you trying to tell the poor girl?" Olivia spoke.

He saw Sonya and that young wolf man, Clayton, were in the middle of the circle. Claudia welcomed Richard Cardinal with her alert gestures. She knew that creature wasn't capable of getting access to enter the Sacred Land but she should be aware with his power to ruin the process. Richard Cardinal's palm was fuming and a red thread was coming through from his palm. He was standing in his position and Claudia kept watching him. Claudia saw Richard was growling as the red thread was approaching Sonya who cowering in the Sacred Land. The red thread was dancing above Sonya's head. It was twirling and tried to entangle into Sonya's palm.

Kept my body angled just enough that anyone thinking about trying her again would have to go through me first. She hadn’t asked me to do that. Hell, she probably didn’t even want it. But I couldn’t shake the way Riker had looked at her—like she was prey. “Girl’s not cut out for this place,” a voice muttered at my back. Truth was, I didn’t know how to explain it. Didn’t know how to put words to that moment on the road when I’d seen her and couldn’t ride past.

Ryan seemed to understand and dropped the stare. “What’s that?” I asked, confused. “That, sweet one, is a card that lets me do anything to Ryan and no one can intervene. It’s a system he developed, we had five cards each.” Hendrix said, enjoying this. He proceeded to take out four more from his pocket. I looked between him and Ryan. “Where are yours?” I quickly asked. Ryan just pulled his lips in and looked down
