The leader nudged Carl with his foot. "Hey. Stop playing dead. Is this the girl you told us about?" Carl sat up immediately, nodding like a damn coward. "Yeah. That's my daughter, Elena Campbell." "You sick bastard. You'd sell your own kid, huh?" the man sneered at him, then turned to glance at me. Carl squeezed his eyes shut, trembling like a leaf.

Beatrix said as both started running around the room. The door opened and Carl who was dressed in a white T-shirt and black Nike shorts came into the room. There was a bear headband on his head. "Hi, Mr Carl. Just so you know, that headband makes you look... let me not say it." Beatrix had seen Lavana's meaningful glance just now and so didn't continue with her words. Lavana walked up to Carl. "Mr Carl. I wanna thank you for your help last night. And also we made your night restless. I apologize for that." Lavana said with a smile.

No matter how hard I tried to push him away, he always came back, like a fucking simp. I did a quick Chinese get-up, groaning as I landed on my feet. Then I pulled Chris up beside me. My eyes shot back to Carl. He was busy lighting up a fat roll of weed, the flame from his lighter flickering against his weathered face. He dragged deep, his eyes locking on mine. “If your little minion wants to die with his girlfriend, let him,” Carl said, blowing smoke right into my face. I squeezed my fists into tight balls I could feel my nails cutting into my palms.

I hear them cursing and calling for more men to follow us, but luckily, most of their forces are on the south side of the pack, too far to catch up. We reach the parking spot, but someone unexpected is waiting for us. “Rylee?” Carl looks at me like he’s seen a ghost. “Why are you here?” Carl stops his men from attacking, and Zen orders our team to stand down. Both sides are now at a standoff, hissing and growling at each other. Carl is surrounded by dozens of strong werewolves, his team outmatching Zen’s mercenaries. I know he’ll inform Alvar first. If Alvar arrives, none of us will be able to leave. Carl’s expression becomes unreadable, a sign of linking, and my heart sinks.

“Good. I’ll tell the men to move.” I reach for my phone, fast, and dial. Drew’s voice slices through again. “What the fu—! Lance, wait. I think Carl's called some backup.” My head jerks up. “What?” “There’s a car in view. Not moving forward. Just… on standby.” “Shit.” I hiss. I grab the binoculars from him without asking, slam them against my face, scanning fast. Carl’s outside the warehouse now. He's already seen his men, dead. And… he's dialing someone.

So, Evarius knows where Carl lives, who he works with, and where he vanishes to take refuge. Maybe, some would say that it’s stupid to walk into your enemy's den all alone. But a couple of werewolves do not bother him. He can handle them. However, Carl also has a witch friend, and he can cause some issues. But again, if his information is correct, which it usually is, the witch shouldn’t be that big of a problem either. Not today, at least. When he had confronted Carl a few days ago, he had thought that he would get to the stone with the assistance of Tasha and her friends and not to try and move past them.

Beta Julius stepped into the room, bowing his head lightly. “How are you feeling today, Alpha?" He asked, nodding towards an unresponsive Meagan. "Light as a feather." Carl joked. The look on Julius face was distant. “Please stop playing around, Alpha." Carl rolled his eyes. Even in his weak state he had more guts than everyone around him. He wasn't dead yet, but they all moved about like it was his funeral. “You all should be the one to quit being so sad. It's weighing my wolf and I." Carl whined, wincing as a sharp pain shot through his sides.

I took a deep breath before enunciating my final decision about his fate, “Carl Alvarado is exiled from the Blood Moon pack.”
