I jolted awake, staring straight into the furious face of the butler's son, Lawrence Carter, who was yelling at me at the top of his lungs. He sneered when he saw how startled I was. He did the same to Cyrus, who seemed uncontrollable. Cyrus is too different from the normal Cyrus I knew. Usually, he was just cold, but right now, he is a crazy monster. When Butch touched Cyrus, he was ready to kill him; however, he stopped the moment he saw Butch smile. There was something in Butch’s charm that could calm us, and I wonder if it was a power gifted to him. The three of us looked at each other and laughed. No, not really a laugh, but a chuckle.

Kinsley pulls me in for a hug before Stan reaches over to hug me as well. Carter lets out a low growl, which made us all laugh.

He sat me down and then gently pressed my back against the cushions. “I like when you talk like that,” he said, his eyes drifting down the front of my body. “Yeah?” I asked. “Well come on then. This ain't your first rodeo, is it?” Carter undid the buttons of my shirt and then pulled it open, exposing my bra. His eyes dilated as he reached forward and unbuckled the clasp that held it together. My breasts popped out and my nipples grew firm immediately from the change in temperature. “Oh my God,” he said, slowly licking his lips. “I almost forgot how nice these were.”

“Jordan, these two delinquents are Carter and Kareem. They’ll be keeping you safe on the line when you’re kicking, so don’t piss them off.” Carter grins, or at least I think he does. It’s hard to see his mouth past the bushy blond beard. His hair hangs to his massive shoulders and a T-shirt clings to every muscled inch of him. Youza. From a distance, I didn’t realize exactly how big he is. “Kick the ball through the posts and you won’t have a problem from me,” Kareem remarks. His braided hair is pulled into a loose ponytail that hangs to the middle of his back. He carries the same muscle as Carter but appears bigger…if possible, meaner.

“I swear to god Axton-” “I’m sorry” Axton starts, stepping close to me. He doesn’t reach for me, but his blue eyes are locked on me. “For the bullying, the hitting. For all of it. It was wrong, and I never, ever should’ve done any of it. If I could change things, mate or not, I would.” the drop of the word mate makes me tense. “They know. Cassandra found out, and they overheard her hate speech” Axton adds, and then he's gripping my shoulders and turning me around. Adam, Axton’s closest friend clears his throat.

I panicked immediately and jumped up from bed, but in that same moment, Carter rushed towards me while Sabastein knelt beside Xavier, shaking him. Carter didn't look at Xavier's body, as though scared to confirm it it was real. Instead, he had his eyes on me which were darker than I remembered. His face was red with rage and his claws had elongated and his fangs were more pronounced. I had never seen Carter so angry. At that moment, it was as though the demon had left me, leaving me to my fate. Tears rolled down from my eyes as I thought of what I had done but my priority was survival.
