The voices in my head were laughing hysterically, celebrating the destruction. Hector raised his head slowly. His face was pale, his lips covered in fresh, dark blood. His chest was charred black, smoking from the dark magic eating him alive. But through all that unimaginable pain, his eyes locked onto mine. They weren't filled with anger. They weren't filled with hatred. They were filled with endless, unbearable love. He dragged himself forward, crawling across the stone inch by inch, leaving a trail of blood behind him. He reached up with a trembling, bloody hand and grabbed my pitch-black, charred fingers.
