The Bookstore Temptation

The Bookstore Temptation

Her cathedral. She slouched into her best corner chair—stuffed, tufted velvet in tired blue—pullding out a book from her tote. A quiet night's reading before bed was now her ritual, and for tonight, she opened what was familiar and comforting: *The Light Between Oceans*. The book always bore its imprint on her. Loss. Forgiveness. Breaking and binding decisions. She opened to the top of it, and the world disintegrated. Somewhere in the city—several stories above, in a steel and glass building—Julian Blackwood lay in his dark, sleek bedroom, staring at the book she had given him.

Although I agree with another comment about some issues with grammar and spelling it really isn't that bad compared to almost all other stories I've read here and I have to say that this story really struck a cord in my heart. Such a lovely and inspiring story and I am very pleased with how it ended

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

But at this time, the voice of Caspian sounded faintly, "Open." It was just a simple word, but it sounded like a disaster door had been opened. The wind was blowing and the clouds were rolling. The wind blew and the formation was formed. Boom! Flames, lightning, mud, and flood. In an instant, it was as if all kinds of disasters and fears in the world had fallen on James Steinbeck. His facial features were twisted to the extreme in an instant. The next moment, with a bang, James exploded. The hot blood even increased the temperature of the surroundings in an instant.

What happened to the original writer of this book? The new writer is a far cry from the first one in terms of style, creativity, dialogue and story telling. He has turned a once very arresting story into a very boring one. It is sad.

Broken Illusions

Broken Illusions

King shook his head. “No. You made things possible.” Lena’s chest tightened. Michael muttered, “This is a damn cult.” King chuckled. “Not a cult,” he said. “A transition.” Jessica’s voice was barely a whisper. “Transition into what?” King studied them, then exhaled. “The next world order.” Lena’s stomach dropped. Jessica’s face paled. Michael swore under his breath. King smiled. And then— The cathedral exploded. Lena hit the ground hard, her ears ringing, dust filling her lungs as the ceiling collapsed in on itself.

Fated to Destroy

However, what she didn't know was that her sins were now too much. I looked at my pack and looked at all the damage a group of people had done. Properties were burning and half of them were razed to the ground already. Lives were at stake, because another half of my guards were ransacking the houses to be sure that people weren't inside. The rogues had basically razed everything to the ground without caring about what others thought or whether people would still be alive afterwards.

Flight of the cardinal

Flight of the cardinal

My heart raced, and I paled; they were coming this way. “Please, Otis, I don’t understand! I—” “Listen to me! You are Cressida Cardinal, and you are a magic wielder. The people invading Cardinal City are not your allies. If they find you here, you will die! Now run!” I could feel hot tears streaming down my face, as the explosion shattered the library wall. The sound was deafening, and I could see huge chunks of stone flying in every direction, hitting the shelves and the books, making them fall. The pages of books floated down and burned as the broken oil lamps fed the fire, filling the air with smoke, and making it difficult to breathe. I had to cover my mouth and nose with a piece of clot

A Heart Shattered by an Earthquake

A Heart Shattered by an Earthquake

" Then, with Wendy firmly nestled in his arms, he turned around without so much as another glance back. Reuben was so frantic that there were tears in his eyes. "Yelena, don't be scared. I'll think of a way to get you out!" he said with a trembling voice. Not long after, I felt the earth shake again. Debris started to cave in around me, and dust fell into my eyes and mouth. A slab of concrete fell on me hard, and I think I heard the sound of bones breaking. My organs felt like they were being crushed to nothing.

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

"She'll have to accept the new reality sooner or later." I had no idea how long the apocalypse would last. Besides, the casualty rate of children was extremely high during the apocalypse. I would never stop Joyce from finding out how cruel this world had become. Once Joyce finally calmed down, Emmett and I began checking the doors and windows. Then, we started counting the supplies we had. When we heard the sounds of a car screeching to a halt outside the villa, Emmett quickly grabbed a rifle and moved to stand behind a window. I picked up a gun as well before joining him nervously.

Supernova book 1

But one thing was for sure: nobody messes with my pancakes. ~ During the journey, there was an awkward silence between my parents and me, after the little spat we had at home. I didn't even know what to say to them to break the ice. So, I put on my headphones and shut my eyes, hoping to escape the tension. Suddenly, I felt someone was hitting me. "Go awaaay you agent of disturbance, go awaaaaaayyyy," I grumbled, annoyed at the sudden disturbance. Then it began to rain, but it didn't feel like any ordinary rain. It was weird, almost eerie. The world started shaking, and before I could process what was happening, an earthquake hit us. I muttered a silent prayer for safety.
