Renegade Wolves
“Come on, give me a spark!”
I keep going and praying for just one spark. When it happens, I hold my breath, the fabric sizzling but not on fire, I place the clump of hair on the fabric and blow, catching it and sparking a fire to life.
Quickly and cautiously, I light the rest of the fabric I had torn off and hold it up. “Move!” I tell Cassidy and drop it as soon as she heads up the stairs.
A whoosh sounds when the small flames take hold of the oil, creating a brilliant blaze in seconds. Cassidy and I scramble up the stairs as the cellar breaks out into a sea of flames, splashing more accelerant from one of the jugs as we reach the top.
