The Abandoned Luna's Return
It went down for miles, deep into the warm, humming heart of the Earth.
As we descended, the air grew sweeter. The smell of ash faded, replaced by the scent of damp earth and blooming jasmine—memories of a world I had never truly known, but that the Genesis engines still remembered.
We reached the bottom.
The chamber was a cathedral of light. In the center sat a chair made of living roots and glowing fiber-optics. It looked like a throne, but I knew it was a prison.
"Once you sit down," Hope said, standing at the edge of the platform, "the 'Re-Birth' begins. The shroud will start to break. In a hundred years, the sun will touch the ground again. In a thousand, the oceans will be blue."
