He only ran faster, his laughter echoing through the trees. Then it happened. It was so fast that it felt unreal. In the blink of an eye, Horris ran forward and disappeared. He had gone straight off a cliff. None of us knew there was a cliff there. It looked like the usual path, only covered with leaves. There was no sign, no warning, nothing. Kaelith and I froze. Another swore that he once saw a woman in white walking just beyond the trees, her eyes hollow, her fingers covered in blood. The rider shivered and moved closer to me. But I didn’t move. I only listened, watched, and tried to determine whether these stories were meant to entertain us or warn us.

Someone finally couldn't handle the sight anymore and stumbled aside to throw up, while another broke into panicked, helpless sobs. My hands trembled slightly, and my face was deathly pale. I was one of the calmer ones, but there was no denying that I was just a high school student. It all started yesterday, during our class trip.
