"It's a sonic weapon," Braun realized, running his hand over the brass gears. "Resonance frequency. If you hit the right note, you can shatter glass. Or... shatter a crystal meteorite."

The invisible blast hit the center of the Unbound vanguard. Dozens of the massive wolves collapsed, whimpering in sudden, paralyzing agony. The sonic wave was forcing the quartz plates in their fur to vibrate at a lethal frequency. I watched in horror as hairline fractures began to form along their armored spines. Silas was trying to shatter them from the inside out. Killian roared, fighting against the crushing pressure of the soundwave. He dug his claws into the earth, his silver eyes locking onto the lead truck. He could not reach it in time. The sonic field was too dense, acting like a physical wall of agony.

Her hands braced against her knees. And when she closed her eyes and— She hummed. Not aloud. But from deep inside her chest, in her mind, the sound vibrated outward like a silent wave. The air pulsed. Unknown to her, her eyes snapped open, glowing a bright unnatural yellow like molten gold. A ripple swept from her body, invisible yet powerful, crashing into the Crystal of Albion.

Ashiel dropped to his knees again, unmoving. “GET UP!” Cris yelled, slashing through enemies with silver fire. But Ashiel didn’t move. He whispered something no one could hear. His eyes vacant. Like he had already lost. Cris turned, breathing hard, and looked at Ken. Then said, softly— “I’m not a monster… don’t run away from me.” His eyes turned black-red. The silver fire around him surged—violent and alive. Then he exploded. A sonic blast of power rippled outward, turning every shadowed creature to ash.
