I am going to die. That was the only concrete train of thought in my slowly drifting mind… before a bone-shattering roar echoed through the kitchen, as a familiar gigantic body leaped ferociously on Tina, knocking her back against the kitchen island, screaming. It was Chase. And he was wild, beastly and straight up primal as he let out dangerous, predatorily and canine growls as he sank his sharp, long fangs deep into Tina’s shoulder.

I informed him. Immediately I heard a glass broke in the room. Behind that was mom standing freezed. “Mom are you okay?.” I asked worried. “What do you mean Chase has been shot?.” Mom cried out. “I don’t know what happened yet but they’d re taking him to the hospital now.” I informed her. “Then what are we waiting for? Let get going.” Mom ordered.

With one last glance towards me with a warm smile she got into the car and zoomed away. I watched the limo leave at top speed as they walked away. "Mrs Sam.Mrs Sam!"I turned to see one of the children running at an alarmingly fast rate towards me. "What's wrong?"I asked as my heart skipped a beat. "Its Chase!"The boy panted getting to catch his breath. "What happened to him?"I asked already running in the direction he was pointing at as the boy trailed behind me. "He was caught in a hunters net and was shot with an arrow"She said.

Suddenly, the van crashed into the rear of their car, causing Frank to hit his head on the steering wheel. “Aaaaahhh!” Lorain screamed in shock. “What’s going on?! Who are those people?! Why are we being chased again?!” Lorain asked Frank in fear. But Frank didn’t answer. Instead, he shouted: “Sh*t! Not again! Why today of all days—our wedding day?! They couldn’t have waited until tomorrow?!” Frank quickly called his men at Francy House to retaliate. He told them exactly where they were on the highway. Immediately, the guards left, leaving no one behind—except for Shane, who was still asleep.

I asked in a stern voice. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. She took a deep breath and then started to explain. “James and she were in a high-speed chase with a robbery suspect. We don’t know all the details yet but it looks like James overcorrected on a turn and lost control. They wound up getting hit by another car as they were spinning. Joey took the worst of it. She was unresponsive by the time we got there.” I could feel the anger inside me as I tried to act worried about James.

“Please, we aren’t animals incapable of controlling ourselves.” He arched a brow and pointedly eyed his thigh which I had been absentmindedly stroking. “Whatever.” I rolled my eyes. “But why isn’t he at least wearing a helmet for goddess sake? Does he want to become roadkill?” “I doubt anything on the road can kill that guy.” Chase laughed. “I don’t know, baby. I’ll be sure to discuss Ron’s horrible safety habits with him later, though.” “Thank you.” I huffed playfully.

Mirelle’s POV “Be careful, sweetheart. You will hurt yourself,” I called after my son, worry threading through my voice as I hurried behind him. Callan ran ahead as though the forest itself posed no threat, his laughter light, his small feet nimble against the uneven ground. “A bunny, Mama. A bunny,” he shouted. He stopped suddenly, pointing excitedly. “Wow. I have never seen a tree this big. Come see.” Moments later, another cry followed. “A deer, Mama. Do you want me to hunt one down?”

Folks!! I missed an updating day! I'm so sorry to do this to you guys, but there will be NO updates the next few days for 'Chase.' I sat down yesterday and looked at the chapters to post, and I just... wasn't happy. In an effort to give you guys the best story possible, I'd like to give it a couple days and rework the ending that is in the pipeline. I don't want to be "that" author that takes a random hiatus, but it is more important to me that I give Rose and Liam the ending they deserve than just post a lackluster ending. Trust me, with the stuff I drafted yesterday, I think you guys will agree.

His shoulders were hunched as he leaned forward onto the bar counter. “It’s alright if you don’t want to talk about it.” Chase said.
