I roll my eyes. Forrest truly is the “alpha.” “It’s from this movie,” I say, waving my hand. Though, it’s much more than just a movie. It’s easier to explain it this way though.

My spine straightens, every muscle on alert as I watch his smug face fill the frame as reporters swarm him outside some gleaming building. “Did you meet the mystery woman Chase was with last night? What can you tell us about her?” Harry pauses, turning slowly toward the cameras, wearing a smile I used to mistake for charm. “Yes, I met her. Lovely woman. I just hope she knows what she’s getting herself into with Chase Sterling. He’s known for parading women around and tossing them aside when he gets bored.”

I eyed a newly dressed Osprey who kept throwing looks at the door that Valerie’s screams were coming from. He looked up at his father before taking a step toward the door when he saw that Falcon was talking to Raul. Falcon growled and Osprey jumped, looking around guiltily. He pointed to the waiting room where the other kids could be seen pressed against the windows watching us.

I grunted. Noctua—Vampire hunters? Bite marks on Umbridge? Everything about this was ridiculous. When Detective Hawthorn told me about Noctua, I almost wanted to laugh. I practically did when I thought back on my meeting with him. That was why I was curious to know why he was helping me. Hawthorn couldn’t possibly believe that vampires existed and that a fucked up cult pretending to be vampire hunters had ties everywhere in the city? That was just plain absurd.

It was pretty obvious from the way they sneered at me. “Dino charger” Chase shouted extending out his dark energem, “Ready!” a bulky yellow and black gun appeared in his hand. He shoved something on it which made it buzz with energy, “Energize!” he then raised it above his head and clicked something, “Unleash the power!” a large misty hologram of a dinosaur head appeared from the tip of it and swallowed him as a whole. When I opened my eyes again, he has worn a cool black outfit with a sharp sword in his hand.

I don’t know what that spell does when it hits flesh, and based on the smell, I don’t want to know. Another one crashes above our heads, and another, as spells are thrown at the guards by a wall of witches marching in unison towards our cages. At the front, I see a familiar face that makes my heart sing. Hazel Thorpe, my best friend and cousin, is leading a charge of witches, potions at the ready, as an older white-haired witch chants, waving her wand at the potions, making them glow and sizzle before they hit their intended targets, making sure that none of the trapped wolves are harmed.

Peter's POV Draco walked in front of Enzo and me as we made our way to the underground torture chambers. The journey that normally took about 1 hour took just 35 minutes to complete. Draco's deathly aura when he entered the van indicated he was in one of his worst moods, which was very surprising considering he had been with the lady boss just a few moments ago.

“Are you under attack, Fran?” I was able to mirror his smile. “I think we can say so, yeah.” The waiter brought the bill and Harry handed him a black credit card. “How much? I mean, you need me to hold you, kiss you, just rest a casual hand on the small of your back?” “Grab me by the hand to leave.” “That’s subtle.” Harry chuckled softly. “Breathe, Fran. You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Or a Haunter. The Haunter Supreme, to be accurate. I was still seeing him. And he was still staring at me, like wishing oh so bad his eyes were knives.
