She felt as if there were eyes on them. “There!” shouted Alex, pointing further ahead. “I see him!” And Emily's heart does a flip: she sees Victor, standing far away at the other end of the alley, dimly lit by the streetlight. He moved quickly, glancing over his shoulder as if he could feel their chase. “Come on!” urged Emily, sprinting after him. The adrenaline was surging through her body as instinct, pairing with fear and determination, propelled her while they chased after him. “Victor!” she yelled, and her voice reverberated in the narrow space. “Stop!”

"They know we're here." Emily followed Ethan out of the apartment, keeping close behind him as they ran down the stairs. As they reached the street, they saw a group of men waiting for them. "Get in the car!" Ethan shouted, pushing Emily towards their car parked on the other side of the street. Emily could hear the men shouting and running after them as they jumped into the car and sped away. She turned to look behind them and saw that they were being chased. Ethan was driving as fast as he could, swerving in and out of traffic to try and lose their pursuers. But they were relentless, following them through the city streets.

The last I wanted was to carry out idle chitchat, not when there were so many things weighing heavily on my mind.
