Aren’t you excited about meeting your favourite author?” Mishka asked, raising her eyebrow, and Christian pouted childishly. “Yeah, I want to, but it’s our first wedding anniversary. Why did they plan the book launch tomorrow? Let me request Warren Thomson to postpone it.” Christian complained and unlocked his mobile phone to give him a call.

Arian's pov I never thought a book club meeting could feel like a battlefield. Today, we are reading The Art of Forbidden by Linda Lively, and from the very moment I flipped through its pages, my face had been hot. The story is about a powerful president who was secretly in love with his male secretary, and if that wasn’t bold enough, the prose was filled with intimacy, longing, and heat. Naturally, everyone thought it would be for people to take turns reading aloud. But I wasn't really in the mood to read, not after what the police said to me.

She said and her eyes burned with tears. “Life goes on, Mishka! And who said he isn’t with us anymore? He said in his letter he will be with us in every walk of life!” He cupped her face. “Don’t cry! He is watching us and waiting to see our success. The book launch is tomorrow and Warren is waiting for you!” Christian said, but she still wasn’t convinced. “Also, I read some online reviews, and the readers are cursing me out after reading the first book, and now I can’t wait for them to cuss you out in the sequel.” Christian laughed, pushing her into the walk-in closet.

His eyebrows knit together as he frowns at me “Don’t call me stupid” “You don’t see it do you. Breydon knew I marked you, made you my equal. They are trying to take you down because they don’t want you to take….” I drift off, recognising the open book on the table, the one Maddox had written about me “Why are you looking at that?” Christian follows the direction I am looking in “It is quite useful actually” “How is a book about me useful?” moving around the desk to look at it, the pages are open to ones I hadn’t read, it was literally like a diary account of me growing up but Christian snatches it away from me before I had a chance to read anything other than dates.
