Christmas Killer Chapter 1 Novels & Stories

This goes on for minutes until… nothing. I open my eyes slowly and at first, all I see is the blurry image of the fallen trees with frost. The scattered firewoods, the destroyed rails, and then him. Jaxon. He's no longer Jaxon though, at least not the one I know. Standing in the snow, is a large black wolf with venom drooling down its fangs, watching me like a predator. And before I can think of anything, Cassie whispers, “Run!”

"Don't make my mistake, Maya. Don't take him for granted. He's one of the good ones." After she went upstairs, I sat alone in the living room, the Christmas tree lights twinkling, the bookmark in my hand. My phone buzzed. Derek: "Workshop. Now. Everyone's asleep." I stood up, my heart racing. This was it. Our first real moment alone on Christmas. I grabbed my coat and slipped out the back door into the cold night, the bookmark still clutched in my hand like a talisman. Whatever happened in that workshop tonight, I knew one thing for certain.

That is too young to kill a man, that is too young to be a devil. I felt confused. I did not like being confused, confusion is weak. I am not weak, i am strong and i am the Red Reaper. When he kissed me, I did not stop him. That is the worst part. I kissed him back, i let my guard down. I let the pity for the boy make me forget the man. The man is a killer. The man is my target, the man is the leader of the Lombardi clan. I cannot forget that. I walked to the window. It was dark outside, i could still see the city lights. I felt far away from everything that was real.

Before I even have the chance to move I feel a sharp pain across my head and watch as everything suddenly goes dark. [TRIGGER WARNING: This following chapter depicts mild moments of SA. “My love, I can't afford to let that wolf kill the whole flock. We won’t survive the winter without them.” Tears streamed down her face as she watched him walk toward the door. He slipped out of the house and headed toward the pens. At first, he didn’t see anything but then out of the darkness a big black wolf with glowing red eyes appeared. He raised the musket, but the wolf was too fast and was on him in an instant. They heard the struggle with the screams of their father.

"It's the same. She's the one that tried to murder the Cassandra." My eyes widened. I turned to find Kaden's cold, undecipherable stare on me. Fuck, this is bad. ***Author's note*** Hello guys! she whispered so quietly he didn’t realise what she’d said. His hand came up, his claws extended. He couldn’t only watch in horror as his hand plunged into her chest. “You’ve killed us all.” Her blood covered him, sticky on his hands, hot and burning on his chest. “No. No I didn’t. I don’t want this,” he pleaded, begged. He struggled where he lay, his hand still lodged in her chest, his grip on her pounding heart. “You’ve done it. You’ll do it. You’re going to kill us.”

I hadn’t. I gave Harper a chaste kiss goodbye. His hands lingered on my waist, reluctant to let go. The house felt lonely, empty, with just him in it, he said. I could feel it too, even with the log fire crackling and a myriad of candles lit on the coffee table and mantelpiece. I noticed, for the first time, the Christmas decorations that Harper was beginning to sneak down. It was too early – it wasn’t even December yet – but he loved Christmas, and every year he’d try to slip some past me, unnoticed. This was the first year that he’d succeeded. But I turned my back on it all. My car felt cold, even though it hadn’t been vacated for very long at all. I dumped my bag on the passenger seat, an
