Then toward Denver standing untouched inside them with Alec beside him. Hatred twisted sharply across his face. Slowly, Christopher stepped toward the barrier. The silver flames crackled faintly as he approached. Then he reached out. The second his hand touched the light— He screamed. The force threw him backward hard enough that he crashed onto the stone floor several feet away. Gasps exploded throughout the hall. Fear rippled visibly through the crowd now.
